It is our goal to KNOW GROW & SOW as we share life and salvation with fellow Senior Citizens 55 and older with Trips, Bible Studies, Fellowship and Mission Events through out the year.

Studies show that seniors who actively “live their faith” and stay involved in their church and community lead healthier, happier, more productive lives. Our personal and spiritual wellness is enhanced when we seek out activities and groups that encourage learning, sharing and serving others. THE GOLDEN EAGLES SENIOR MINISTRY was organized in 1998 as a ministry to the senior members of St. John’s and St. Paul’s congregations. Through the guidance of the Holy Spirit we endeavor to grow in faith, encourage one another, and to model an example of Christian love and service. God, in his wisdom, has blessed us with many years of life and we give Him all the glory!

If you are 55 (or older) we invite you to join us as we continue to navigate this amazing journey of life! You can find news of our monthly activities and programs in the Notes and News.

THE MULLER PIPE ORGAN COMPANY TOUR - JANUARY 18, 2016

Braving single digit temperatures on Monday January 18th, 31 Golden Eagles visited The Muller Pipe Organ Company in Croton, Ohio for a unique opportunity to witness the process that is bringing our new pipe organ to life! John Muller heads the company which employs only seven full-time craftsmen and his son, Jack, represents the fifth generation to carry on the organ-building trade. Our knowledgeable and animated tour guide, Luke, walked us through the construction, or in our case “re-construction” of an organ, demonstrated what makes the pipes work, showed us the tuning or “voicing” process and finally, how it will all come back together. It was a thrill to observe this amazing team of craftsmen and their obvious passion for their work, knowing that the instrument they will return to our church will serve to praise and worship God for generations to come! The warm welcome of the Muller team made the trip into the cold very worthwhile!

Golden Eagles News - April 2016

Thank you, St. John’s Lutheran School CEA, for including The Golden Eagles in last week’s Family Fun Night. It was a wonderful evening of sharing God’s love with His Forever Family! The Eagles enjoyed the energy of our boys and girls; the delicious meal; and of course the opportunity to play Euchre with our upper grades youth! We’re not sure who taught whom! It’s always a blessing to have these cross-generational times together!

GOD BLESS AMERICA!

On Wednesday, May 25th, our Golden Eagles will meet to celebrate and honor all Veterans and those active duty service men and women currently serving our Country! We will meet at 1:30 pm at St. Paul’s Chuckery, for our RED, WHITE, AND BLUE event! Honor Flight Columbus, with coordinators Bill and Bobbie Richards will share the story of this amazing organization, which fly our Veterans to Washington D.C. to visit their memorials. Many of our members have participated as Veterans as well as Guardians in this program, which has now served thousands of Veterans.

A tribute to those St. Paul’s and St. John’s members currently serving in the military will highlight our time together. OF COURSE WE WILL EAT! An early supper will be served to conclude our event with opportunity for some patriotic songs and remembrances. Plan to attend, wear your Red, White, and Blue, and be ready to Thank God for our Veterans!

ON THE ROAD AGAIN!

It’s time to ride the Fun Bus to Amish Country, and an opportunity for fun, fellowship, and faith! On June 21- 22, 2016, we’ll travel to Holmes County, with stops in Millersburg to visit an authentic woodworking shop; Sugar Creek, Walnut Creek, Berlin, and Kidron. We have planned to visit an Amish Farm and learn about “the orders” of this Religious group; join in the fun at the Amish Country Theatre, where FUN and ENTERTAINMENT are emphasized; and of course shop for antiques, cheese, baked goodies, and maybe even ICE CREAM! Lodging at the beautiful Carlisle Inn, and dinners at the Amish Restaurants will be included. More details and pricing will be included in next week’s Notes and News!

As a Senior Ministry Team, we thank God for His gifts of health and happiness as we continue to grow in our Golden Years of Faith!

Past News...

Your Golden Eagles stayed warm on Thursday, January 21st with laughter, soup and fellowship! Thanks to a Heritage House full of Seniors and an energizing presentation from our friend Melissa McKenzie, the Eagles learned how breathing exercises, low impact arm and leg motions, and visualization can bring a sense of happiness and hopefulness into our daily lives! The Scriptures are filled with messages about the “joyfulness” of the Lord, and as we hear in Ecclesiastes: “To everything there is a season, a time to weep... and a time to LAUGH and a time to rejoice with everything under Heaven!” A special reason to rejoice was the long awaited return of Nancy and Russell Scheiderer to our midst!

Our meeting time included lots of discussion about possible destinations together for 2016. Among the suggestions were multiple day trips to: Branson, Missouri; Bardstown, Kentucky; Holmes County, Ohio; Shipshewana, Indiana; and Lancaster County, Pennsylvania; and day trips to Mansfield, Cincinnati, Archibald, Wooster and Portsmouth, Ohio. Following our meeting, members enjoyed time together laughing, playing card games and sharing conversation... including some interesting stories about a coyote spotting! Following the awarding of prizes to the lucky winners, the Eagles enjoyed an early dinner of soups, muffins, and some yummy desserts... and ICE CREAM for DOUG!

We’ll be taking some time off during February, encouraging folks to practice some personal “laugh time” to ward off the winter doldrums, but will be returning to a full menu of activities in March, ready to SOAR like Eagles... Serving Our Awesome Redeemer! To God by the Glory!
